Andrew Benintendi homers twice to lead White Sox to third straight win

Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images Andrew Benintendi homered twice and drove in four runs to help the visiting Chicago White Sox to an 8-4 win against the Los Angeles Angels in the opener of their three-game series on Monday night in Anaheim.
Andrew Vaughn homered and tripled and Lenyn Sosa also had two hits, including a home run, for the White Sox (36-115), who have won three in a row for the first time since June 27-29.
White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon (4-10) surrendered four runs and three hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
Angels left-hander Reid Detmers (4-7) made his third start since he was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and he allowed seven runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out six and walking three.
Eric Wagaman hit his first major league home run and Charles Leblanc also homered and scored twice for the Angels (60-90), who have dropped six in a row.
Luis Robert Jr. worked an eight-pitch walk with one out in the first before Benintendi pulled an 0-2 slider deep into the seats in right for a 2-0 lead.
Vaughn then clubbed the second pitch from Detmers over the fence in left to make it 3-0.
The Angels surrendered three more runs in the second.
Following a one-out walk and an infield single, Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel made a throwing error on an infield single by Robert that allowed a run to score and stretched the lead to 4-0.
Benintendi grounded out to second to plate another run and Vaughn followed with a triple to right to score Benintendi and make it 6-0.
Wagaman went deep over the center-field fence with two outs in the second to cut it to 6-1. His first four major league hits are three doubles and a home run.
Sosa answered with a leadoff home run in the third to extend the lead back to 7-1.
Leblanc belted a solo home run to left-center field with one out in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-2, but Benintendi homered again in the seventh to push the lead to 8-2.
Jordyn Adams looped an RBI single into shallow right to trim it to 8-3 in the bottom half of the seventh. Gustavo Campero then delivered his first major league hit in his second game to drive in another run and make it 8-4.
